Memphis is organized around a highway loop, and freight moves through it constantly. For a logistics worker, that geography matters more than neighborhood branding.
Think in routes, not radius
Interstate 40 crosses the metro east to west and Interstate 240 loops the core, with US highways feeding north and south. Two apartments the same distance from your site can sit on completely different routes — one predictable, one not.
The test is simple and nobody does it: drive the actual route, at your actual hours, before you sign. Any drive time you read online, including anything you might read on this site, is an estimate.
What to check
- Whether your route crosses a known bottleneck at shift change
- Whether there is a second route if the first is blocked
- How the route behaves in heavy rain or an ice event
- Where you refuel, and whether it is on your route or a detour
- Whether a transit option exists as a backup on a vehicle-repair day
