FedEx's verified Memphis addresses are up to 15.8 straight-line miles apart. Which site you report to decides which part of the city to search — here is the measurement, and the one address our sources still dispute.
Short answer: FedEx’s Memphis operation is spread across
several addresses, and the two furthest apart that we can verify sit 15.8
straight-line miles from each other. Before you compare apartments, find out
which building your offer names. “Close to FedEx” means nothing until you do.

What we measured, and how
We took the FedEx Memphis addresses recorded in our own research file, put each through
the US Census Bureau geocoder, and measured the straight-line distance between every pair.
Four of the five resolved to coordinates. These are straight-line distances — the shortest
line between two points — not drive times and not routes. A road distance is always longer,
and traffic is yours to judge.
- FedEx Express World HQ — 3610 Hacks Cross Road, in the far southeast.
- FedEx Corporation HQ — 942 Shady Grove Road South, east Memphis.
- FedEx Logistics Global HQ — 145 Lt. George W. Lee Avenue, downtown.
- FedEx Ship Center — 4450 Distriplex Cove, ZIP 38118.
The distances between them
Measured pair by pair, in straight-line miles:
- Express World HQ to Logistics Global HQ — 15.8 miles, the widest gap.
- Express World HQ to the Ship Center — 8.5 miles.
- Corporation HQ to Logistics Global HQ — 11.2 miles.
- Corporation HQ to the Ship Center — 7.3 miles.
- Logistics Global HQ to the Ship Center — 10.1 miles.
- Express World HQ to Corporation HQ — 5.2 miles, the closest pair.
Even the closest two are five miles apart. An apartment chosen for one of these
addresses can be a genuinely awkward daily journey to another, and nothing about the
phrase “near FedEx” distinguishes them.
The address we will not state
The World Hub — the air cargo operation at the airport, and the site most people mean
when they say they work for FedEx in Memphis — is the one we could not place. Our sources
disagree on the street number on Sprankel Avenue, listing both 2753 and 2903. Rather than
pick the more convenient one and draw it, we have left it off the map and said so.
If the World Hub is your site, ask your employer which address you report to rather than trusting any rental website, ours included.
What to do with this before you search
This matters whether you are moving to Memphis or already live in Memphis. A change of site within the same company is one of the more common reasons people here move locally, and someone changing jobs within the city has the same problem as someone arriving from another state: the building, not the brand, decides the search.
Search around the address you will actually report to, not around the word “FedEx”. If your role rotates between buildings,
search around the one you will report to most often, and treat the others as occasional
journeys rather than daily ones.
If you have not started yet and the site is not confirmed, that is a good reason to
delay signing a 12-month lease by a week rather than to guess.
Where to look, by site
Our area guides cover the parts of Memphis these addresses actually sit in:
- Apartments near the FedEx World Hub
— the southeast and airport side of the city. - Apartments in 38128 — the north side, a
different commute entirely from Hacks Cross. - Moving to Memphis — the full relocation guide if
you are arriving from out of state.
Frequently asked questions
How far apart are FedEx’s Memphis sites?
The two furthest we
can verify are 15.8 straight-line miles apart: the Express World HQ on Hacks Cross Road and
the Logistics Global HQ downtown. The closest pair is 5.2 miles.
Where is the FedEx World Hub exactly?
Our sources disagree on
the street number on Sprankel Avenue, so we do not state one. Ask your employer which address you report to, then search around it.
Are these driving distances?
No. Every figure here is a
straight-line distance between coordinates from the US Census Bureau geocoder. A road route
is always longer.
Does it matter which FedEx site I work at?
Yes. The addresses
are in different parts of the city, so the same apartment can be convenient for one and
awkward for another.

See ELM’s current listings, or ask us which of our areas suits your site. We will tell you honestly when the answer is a different part of the city.
Addresses come from public directories and FedEx’s
own published locations, recorded in our research file with the date each was checked.
