How to apply for a Memphis apartment when your income is an offer letter rather than a pay stub.
Renting in Memphis With a New Job Offer
How to apply when your income is a letter rather than a payslip.
Applying before your first pay date is completely normal. It just requires different evidence, and knowing that in advance saves a round trip.
What your offer letter should show
- Employer name and your role
- Start date
- Pay terms, clearly stated
- A signature or other confirmation that it is final
- Any conditions that are still outstanding
If the start date is still moving
Say so. Before a lease is signed, a move-in date can often be adjusted; afterwards the lease governs. The worst version of this is a move-in date locked to a start date that then slips by three weeks.
Have an offer but no pay stub yet? That is normal — ask us what is needed.
Frequently asked questions
Will a conditional offer be accepted?
Ask before applying. Outstanding conditions can matter to how an application is assessed.
Can I apply before I sign the offer?
You can look, but income documentation is part of the application. Get the letter first.
