Your First 30 Days After Moving to Memphis
A short, ordered list of the things that are annoying later if you skip them now.
The first month sets up everything after it. None of this is difficult; it is just easy to postpone until it becomes a problem.
Week one
- Photograph the unit and complete the move-in condition form
- Save the maintenance contact and emergency process from your lease packet
- Confirm all utilities are active in your name
- Locate your interior sheltering space for severe weather
- Find your nearest grocery, pharmacy and fuel stop
Weeks two to four
- Update your address with employer, bank and subscriptions
- Handle Tennessee driver’s licence and vehicle registration requirements
- Register to vote at your new address
- Set up a routine for the commute you will actually drive
- Test the route to work at a different time of day than your first week
