Almost every guide to working at Amazon in Memphis makes the same
mistake: it treats “Amazon Memphis” as one building. It is at least three, spread across
opposite ends of a city roughly twenty miles wide — and which one you report to decides where
you should live, whether you can use the bus, and whether we are any use to you at all.
The short version. If you report to MEM4 on New
Allen Road, you are working in north Memphis and our Raleigh apartments are in the same ZIP
code. If you report to DTN4 on Pearson Road, you are working in the southeast and you should
be looking at a completely different part of the city — we will tell you where, even though we
have nothing to rent you there.
Amazon Memphis is a network: three sites, three commutes
| Site | What it is | Address | ZIP | Part of the city |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MEM4 | Fulfilment centre | 4055 New Allen Road | 38128 | North Memphis, Raleigh / Frayser |
| DNA4 | Distribution / delivery operation | Listed as 3140 Victory Ridge Cove by some sources, on East Holmes Road by others. Sources disagree — verify. |
38128 or 38118 | Disputed |
| DTN4 | Delivery station | 3347 Pearson Road | 38118 | Southeast Memphis, toward the airport |
Who actually works at each site
The site type tells you a lot about the job before you ever read the description.
- A fulfilment centre like MEM4 is the large end of the operation: picking,
packing, stowing, problem-solve, inbound and outbound dock work. Big headcount, multiple
shifts, and the site runs continuously. - A delivery station like DTN4 is the last leg. Packages arrive sorted and
go out on vans. Headcount is smaller, and the rhythm is built around dispatch times rather
than a continuous production flow — which usually means very early starts. - Driver and contractor roles attached to delivery stations are a different
thing again. If you are joining a delivery service partner rather than Amazon directly, your
reporting location and hours come from that company.
Shift patterns, and why they decide your apartment
Amazon describes its sites as operating 24/7, and advertises early morning, daytime, evening
and overnight schedules, alongside full-time, reduced-time, part-time and flex arrangements.
Some fulfilment roles are advertised as 12-hour shifts.
That range matters more than it looks. A 12-hour overnight is a different housing problem
from a five-day daytime schedule: you will be sleeping through the hottest part of a Memphis
afternoon, and the building you live in will be at its busiest while you are trying to sleep.
Whatever the listing says, view the apartment during the hours you would actually be asleep —
it is the only honest test.
We do not publish drive times. Traffic around large
logistics sites concentrates into short windows at shift change and behaves nothing like
ordinary rush hour. Map the route from the real building address and drive it in both
directions at your own hours before you commit to anything.
Getting there without a car — the 5:58 problem
This is the detail no listing site will tell you, and for some people it decides everything.
MATA routes 11, 37 and 40 stop near MEM4. The closest stop is
Yale Road at Bellwood Drive, roughly a two-minute walk from the site. On Route
11 — the Frayser route, which runs from Yale Road at Austin Peay Highway through to the William
Hudson Transit Center — the first bus reaches the facility at around 5:58am
and the last one leaves at about 11:15pm.
Read that against your shift. An early-morning start before six, or an overnight finishing
after eleven, falls outside the service window. If you do not have a car and your shift sits
outside those hours, you need a plan that is not the bus before you sign a lease — a reliable
carpool, or an address within walking distance. Confirm current timetables directly with MATA;
schedules change.
Our guide to living in Memphis without a car goes into this
further. The short version is that this is a driving city, and the margin for error on
shift work is small.
Where people rent near each site
Around MEM4 — north Memphis
MEM4 sits in the Raleigh and Frayser part of north Memphis. Austin Peay Highway (US-51) is
the spine of this area: most day-to-day errands sit on or just off it, including a Kroger at
3860 Austin Peay and a Save A Lot at 3465 Austin Peay. Both list evening closing times rather
than running around the clock, which matters if you finish a shift at three in the morning.
The Raleigh Springs Civic Center on Austin Peay replaced the old Raleigh Springs Mall, which
closed in 2016. The City of Memphis opened the replacement in November 2020 with a library, a
police precinct, a skatepark, an 11-acre lake and a one-mile walking trail. If your impression
of the area comes from an old street view of a dead mall, it is out of date.
Around DTN4 — southeast Memphis
DTN4 is in 38118, in the southeast. The established residential and apartment areas on that
side include Parkway Village, Oakhaven, Fox Meadows and Hickory Hill, with nearby ZIP codes of
38118, 38115, 38111 and 38141. Parkway Village is largely mid-century single-family housing
under mature oak and hickory; the apartment stock in that corridor is a separate search from
anything in the north of the city.
Where we fit — and where we honestly do not
If you report to MEM4: we are worth a look
We manage Raleigh Pines at 2799 Beverly Hills Rd, Apt 4, Memphis, TN 38128,
in the Raleigh area. It shares the 38128 ZIP code with the New Allen Road site. The floor plan
is a 2 bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom apartment. Availability and pricing
move — check the listings page rather than trusting a number on a
guide.
If you report to DTN4: we are probably the wrong choice
We have nothing in southeast Memphis. Renting from us in Raleigh and commuting to Pearson
Road would mean crossing the city twice a day for a shift job, and we are not going to pretend
that is a good idea to win a lease.
Search the southeast corridor instead — Parkway Village, Oakhaven, Fox Meadows and Hickory
Hill are the areas to start with. Apply the same tests we would: drive the route at your real
hours, view the unit when you would normally be asleep, and confirm what is open when your
shift ends.
If your site changes later, we will still be here.

Applying before you arrive
Most people relocating for one of these roles sign before they get here, and the process is
built for it: a self-guided tour you book yourself, an
online application, and an electronic lease. Have photo ID for every
adult, proof of income or a written offer letter showing your start date and pay terms, and
your rental history ready before you begin.
Keep your move-in date flexible while your start date is still provisional. starting work and
pre-start checks move dates often, and before a lease is signed there is usually room to
adjust. Afterwards, the lease governs. More detail in our
guide to renting before you move.
Frequently asked questions
Which Amazon site in Memphis is nearest to your apartments?
MEM4, the fulfilment centre at 4055 New Allen Road, carries a 38128 address — the same ZIP code as our Raleigh Pines community at 2799 Beverly Hills Road. That is public record, not a proximity claim, and it tells you nothing about your journey time. Map it from the real address and drive it at your own hours.
I report to the Pearson Road delivery station. Should I rent from you?
Probably not. DTN4 is at 3347 Pearson Road in 38118, in the southeast of the city. We manage nothing down there, and commuting from Raleigh across Memphis twice a day for a shift job is a bad trade. Look at the southeast Memphis areas instead — Parkway Village, Oakhaven, Fox Meadows and Hickory Hill are the established apartment areas closer to that side.
Can I get to MEM4 without a car?
It is possible but tight. MATA routes 11, 37 and 40 stop near the site, with the nearest stop at Yale Road at Bellwood Drive, about a two-minute walk. On Route 11 the first bus arrives near the facility around 5:58am and the last leaves around 11:15pm. If your shift starts before six or ends after eleven, the bus will not cover you. Confirm current timetables with MATA before you rely on this.
What shifts does Amazon run in Memphis?
Amazon lists its Memphis sites as operating 24/7, with early morning, daytime, evening and overnight options, and full-time, reduced-time, part-time and flex schedules. Some fulfilment roles are advertised as 12-hour shifts. Your specific pattern comes from your offer, not from a guide page.
Is ELM affiliated with Amazon?
No. We are an independent property management company. No apartment we manage is affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon, and there is no employer housing programme.
Can I sign a lease before my start date?
Yes, and most people relocating do. A written offer letter showing your start date and pay terms commonly stands in for pay stubs. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval.
